About ABC

Welcome to Aylestone Baptist Church. We are a lively and caring Baptist Church on the outskirts of Leicester with a heart and a mission to see people transformed by the love of God. Aylestone Baptist Church can be found on Lutterworth Road, near the Aylestone shops, opposite the Enterprise Car Hire. We are a friendly and informal church committed to serving our community and helping one another to follow Jesus.

We are currently seeking a new minister, in the meantime the Church Secretary can be contacted at the church office on 0116 283 2527 or via email secretary@aylestonebaptistchurch.org.uk

ABC is a Baptist community which has been established here in Leicester for over 140 years, for more information see our History page. We have a membership of around 80 but throughout the week are privileged to be able to reach many more through the variety of activities in the life of the Church.

Life Events

The church is available for Weddings and Funerals, and we would be delighted to talk to parents about dedicating their children. We offer a service of dedication for those who would like to give thanks to God for the birth of a new baby. This service involves the Parents and the Church making a number of promises to care for and teach the child as he or she grows up. Dedication normally forms part of a Sunday morning service. Please contact the Church office on 0116 2832527 if you would like to know more.

We also have a pastoral care team who would be happy to talk through any problems you might be facing.

Aylestone Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and associates with other local Baptist churches through the East Midlands Baptist Association.

We support a number of mission organisations, in particular BMS World Mission, and we are connected especially to Stephen and Caroline Dimond and their children Lucy, Kathrine and Lilly who are in India. For more information about our mission partners please see the "Mission" page.

We also have a connection with Calvary Telegu Baptist Church in Chennai, S. India, supporting them in prayer and finance. We also have a youth and community work student, Graham Hill, with us for three years. Graham works with our young people whilst training at St. John's College, Nottingham.

At Aylestone Baptist Church, we are very keen to see the church hall used by people and groups from the community. Our kitchen and toilets facilities attached to the church hall were refurbished in 2007, improving them immeasurably.

If you would like to enquire about a one-off booking or the regular daytime or evening use of the hall, please phone the bookings secretary, Angela Wafforne on 0116 229 0141, or email minister@aylestonebaptistchurch.org.uk. The hall is used for children's parties, public meetings, recreational and educational clubs and more.

The Present Buildings

The buildings that comprise Aylestone Baptist Church have been erected over sixty years. The present hall was the original Church Sanctuary and dates from 1932, while the Sanctuary now used for worship was opened in 1955.

In 1992, the lounge was added onto the front of the Church Sanctuary, creating a more open and welcoming aspect for visitors and is now a great place to enjoy a relaxing coffee after one of our services.
